Fanny Aronsen, born in Malmo, Sweden, is a designer and academic, trained in textile design and art history, and often weaving cultural references into her especially elegant work. The tactility of her design is paramount. “My challenge was to absorb the idea of crystals into the spirit of my design, my expression,” says Aronsen. “I love the soft tactile feel of the linen and the hard crystal. It’s astonishing – a completely new procedure.”

She has produced various fabrics, one using the new technique, flocking with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS. “That introduces a new three dimensionality,” says Aronsen. “And the brilliance of the crystal is highlighted by the wool.” Another, a work of extreme luxury, introduces hand-embroidery and large size crystal. The collection is completed with Novalin Irrbloss, a brilliant combination of SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS with black and white linen wallpaper.

She has created four beautiful textile designs, and a wall covering, which represents a perfect symbiosis between the crystals and the fabric, bring out the best of both. By working with differently shaped crystals, and by using embroidery and different kinds of prints for the fabrics, she created an opulent and elegant collection.

The folks at Swarovski sure know how to expand their horizons. After doing up a custom-ordered steam room for the luxury resort Bag Ragaz, they are now all set to do yet another innovative project for another travel destination that goes by the name of Sparkling Hill Resort and Wellness Hotel in Canada. This one is perched high up on cliff above the Okanagan Lake.

Although many of the hotel’s peers have decided to halt their constructions due to the financial crunch, the guys at Sparkling Hill are willing to shell out $55 million bucks for the Swarovski project which will be first of its kinds to incorporate the precious element into every aspect of its design.

The brains behind all this are hoping to dazzle their guests from the moment they lay their eyes on the hotel. And of course, the beauty of Lake Okanagan will be complementing the splendor of the all glittering ice on the hotel resort. The new hotel will comprise of 15 rooms spread across 240,000 square feet. Showcasing the entire Daniel Swarovski Couture Line and the jewellery and accessories from the Swarovski fashion collection, the store also features three exclusive Ginza limited pieces namely the Black Elvis Pendant, the Signature Necklace and the Signature Power Evening Bag.

The store better known for its Crystal Forest has been designed in collaboration of Swarovski and famous Japanese designer Tokujin Yashioka. All the other Swarovski boutiques will be refurbished according to the new architectural concept of this flagship store from 2008.What’s interesting is that the walls of this store are textured with reflective white relief prisms of various lengths. These faceted, multi layered elements create a visual depth and exude an internal rhythm. CROMA was the firm selected to design the GE Monogram Lounge at the Interior Design Show last February in Toronto. The Ice Lounge created by Ryan and Amy was inspired by the modern eclectic trend, mixing classic with modern, and slick with hand finished. The Swarovski crystals were used in a very elegant way!
